If you’ve got a thing for music, culture, and a city with rhythm in its bones, then Denver is your next must-visit. This spring, Colorado’s vibrant capital rolls out the red carpet for music lovers with a jam-packed festival calendar of concerts and cultural events—topped off by the debut of the Denver Jazz Fest, happening for the very first time.
All That Jazz: A New Festival with Deep Roots
From April 3 to 6, Denver will be alive with the sound of saxophones, pianos, and soulful vocals as the very first Denver Jazz Fest takes place. The four-day celebration spreads across the city—from hip breweries and hidden clubs to major stages—with a special spotlight on the historic Five Points neighborhood.
Once dubbed the Harlem of the West, Five Points was a thriving jazz hub in the early 20th century and hosted legends like Billie Holiday and Nat King Cole. Fast-forward to today, and the district’s jazz legacy still grooves through its streets. It’s the perfect backdrop for the festival’s grand finale: an open-air concert by five-time Grammy-winner Dianne Reeves, a Denver native herself.
Tickets range from free community gigs to around $80 for front-row experiences—and every note promises to be unforgettable.
Culture on Every Corner: The Festival Spring in Full Swing
But Denver’s spring isn’t all jazz—it’s a cultural mixtape. From March to June, the city celebrates its diversity with film, food, music, and more. Kick off the season with the Colorado Dragon Boat Film Festival (March 14–16), which highlights stories from Asian American communities through award-winning cinema. The vibe shifts from screen to ceremony at the Denver March Powwow (March 21–23), one of the largest Native American gatherings in the U.S., filled with traditional dance, art, and celebration at the Denver Coliseum.
Then in May, downtown turns into a giant open-air fiesta during the Cinco de Mayo Festival (May 3–4). Expect mariachi bands, tacos galore, and around 300,000 visitors soaking up Latino culture in Civic Center Park.
Celebrating Freedom, Cherry Blossoms & Bavarian Brews
June brings two more gems: the Juneteenth Music Festival (June 14–15) in Five Points honors the emancipation of enslaved people in the U.S. with a joyful explosion of music, food, and art. Denver has celebrated Juneteenth since the 1950s, making it one of the oldest running festivals of its kind in the country.
A week later, the city goes zen with the Denver Cherry Blossom Festival (June 21–22), where you can snack on mochi, watch taiko drummers perform, and shop Japanese crafts—all while learning about Denver’s longstanding Japanese-American community.
Then in September, it’s time to raise a stein: the Denver Oktoberfest takes over downtown for two weekends of bratwurst battles, beer stein holding, and good old Bavarian vibes. Denver is serious about its brewing scene—many local beers follow the German Reinheitsgebot purity law—and the city’s love of craft beer only adds to the fun.
Pure Festival Fever: Big Names, Big Stages, and One Epic Amphitheatre
Music fans, take note: Denver’s 2025 concert season is looking legendary. Coldplay plays Empower Field on June 10, followed by hometown heroes The Lumineers on August 2. Kylie Minogue hits the Ball Arena on April 29, Katy Perry follows on May 15, and Linkin Park—now with a new lead singer—rocks the house on September 3.
And then there’s Red Rocks Amphitheatre, the crown jewel of live music venues, where Sting will perform two unforgettable nights under the stars on May 19 and 20. Nestled between towering sandstone formations, this natural amphitheatre just outside the city is bucket list material for any music lover.
Why Denver? Why Jazz? Because Culture Here Doesn’t Just Exist—It Thrives
What makes Denver so special is the way it blends big-time entertainment with a deeply local, welcoming vibe. These aren’t just events—they’re part of the city’s heartbeat. You’ll feel it in Five Points’ jazz clubs, in powwow drums echoing through the Coliseum, in the shared laughter over street tacos and cherry blossoms.
