THE SNAGS IN THE SYSTEM
The VALEUR MAGAZINE Issue 15 deals with the values of today which are often of a material nature. A big car, a new smartphone, designer fashion, and interior, a nice holiday. We are celebrating luxury and comfort. It’s fine so long we experience quality and good service, but countless products and services are marked by low quality or updates.
We follow nice advertisements, created by smart marketing experts, who promise often more than they can deliver. Many products are made to throw them away after a well – mostly short – calculated time. This is important because the economy wants expansion, strong growth, and continuous development. The magical word is Obsolescence.
VALEUR MAGAZINE ISSUE 15 dealt with this topic. We talked with the German actor Hannes Jaenicke in Los Angles about his book: “The Big Muck Around”.
In context with the oldest bulb on earth, Christopher Laps – stuntman, a filmmaker as well as producer of the documentary “Century of Light” – talked with us about his movie as well as about respect, sustainability, and longevity. We and 2 million readers embosomed the so-called “Centennial Light”, the bulb which illuminates a fire station in Livermore, California, since 1901. The bulb has its own website. Meanwhile, the old lamp outlived many modern webcams. These “bulb cams” show pictures of the lamp, which will be refreshed every 30 seconds: www.centennialbulb.org. Of course, as usual, we didn’t forget to present the newest high-quality fashion and lifestyle trends.
