The story of The Fantastic Four: First Steps isn’t exactly groundbreaking — but what is new is the fresh setting and the stylish nod to the heroes’ comic book origins. That part? Pretty nice.
THE FANTASTIC FOUR
I didn’t dive too deep into Pedro here, but let’s be real — he’s absolutely the heart of the movie. His charm and authenticity carry the whole thing. Still, if you really want to see Pedro at his finest, you have to check out The Unbearable Weight of Massive Talent with Nicolas Cage. That’s him at his absolute peak — pure gold.
Personally, I walked out of The Fantastic Four: First Steps with mixed feelings. On one hand, I had the premiere and press conference in mind — and, well, Ebon didn’t exactly shine there. On the other, the film just doesn’t bring much new to the table story-wise. But then there are those moments — little gems — that true comic fans will love. The film also highlights some genuinely beautiful themes: family, unity, emotion, conviction, and most importantly, authenticity.
Visually, The Fantastic Four: First Steps is a total feast for the eyes. Story-wise… let’s just say newcomers to the MCU will have a great time. You don’t need a PhD in Marvel lore to follow along.
However, fans who grew up with Jessica Alba, Chris Evans, Ioan Gruffudd, and Michael Chiklis — and who recently mourned the loss of Julian McMahon, the unforgettable villain from back in the day — might struggle to connect with the new squad. I know I did.
So, yeah — The Fantastic Four: First Steps gets a 6/10 from me. Maybe next time they’ll crank it up a notch.
