ACT I SCREAM & SHOOT
Five worlds. Five nightmares.
From radioactive wastelands to the darkest corners of deep space. Pick your nightmare.
Brrrr. Autumn.
Cold, grey, miserable. The kind of weather that makes you wonder whether the sun has packed its bags and moved to the Caribbean without telling anyone. Rain on the windows, dead leaves on the pavement, darkness before dinner. Seriously, who decided this was the romantic season?
And as if the season weren't depressing enough, there's always Halloween. The annual wardrobe horror. What the hell am I going to wear? A vampire? Been there. A zombie? Done that. A witch? Please. And that Silent Hill nurse outfit? Darling, that was so last year. Another costume, another party, another night pretending to be someone terrifying while secretly worrying whether the fake blood will come out of your favourite shirt. Funny, isn't it? We spend half the year trying to escape reality, only to spend Halloween dressing up as its worst nightmares.
But before the costume crisis turns into an actual psychological thriller, here's a thought. What if we stopped trying to look scary and started having some fun being scared? Forget the mirror. Forget the makeup. Cancel the existential debate over fishnet stockings and fake fangs.
Hailee, our Head of Style, has a solution: a fabulous outfit, killer heels and a party worth getting dressed up for. Me? I have a better idea.
Close the wardrobe. Open your laptop. Get ready for takeoff.
I'm Sarah, Head of Gaming at THE MAG, and I believe some of the greatest adventures begin exactly where common sense tells you to turn around. Abandoned cities. Radioactive wastelands. Infected streets. Spaceships with serious personnel issues. Places where the neighbours want you dead and customer service stopped answering decades ago.
Five games. Five girls. Five very bad ideas.
Joelle loves a story with cinematic ambition. Trinity has a weakness for technology with questionable consequences. Amara knows the most dangerous monsters don't always look like monsters. Hailee occasionally trades her killer heels for something more practical. And me? I get to lead this beautiful disaster.
The best part? Great games don't come with an expiration date. Some of these nightmares have been around for years, losing none of their bite while shedding a rather satisfying chunk of their original price tags.
So forget the weather. Turn down the lights, turn up the sound and make yourself comfortable. Outside, the world may look miserable.
