What an exciting week! First, the visit of Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy almost shut down public transport in the capital for a few days. Then, days before the European Football Championship even started, the fan zone at the Brandenburg Gate kicked off with a huge concert and fireworks. And if that wasn’t enough, the ultimate icon of the new generation showed up in the city. Fans went wild when they welcomed Billie Eilish in Berlin. And of course, she didn’t miss the chance to visit the place she made world-famous, Billie’s Spot.
THE BILLIE EILISH WALL TURNS INTO BILLIE’S SPOT
Berlin holds a special place in Billie Eilish’s heart. Back in 2019, she visited the city during the release tour of her debut album When We All Fall Asleep, Where Do We Go? At that time, she had a photo taken in the trendy Friedrichshain district with a giant poster of her album cover in the background. After posting the picture on her social channels, the staircase at the Amazon Tower and East Side Mall became known as the Billie Eilish Wall, a pilgrimage site for fans from around the world. They come to this place to leave messages on the stairs and walls and recreate the famous photo motif.
Excitingly, just a few footsteps away stood the former Berlin Wall, which once divided East and West Berlin. Billie, through her creative work, embodies unity. That’s why this place is significant in many ways and rightfully deserves its new name: Billie’s Spot.
HER NEW TOP ALBUM: HIT ME HARD AND SOFT
So, for five years, “Billie’s Spot” received lots of love and, finally, last Friday, it got a personal update from Billie Eilish herself! Following the instant success of her third studio album “HIT ME HARD AND SOFT,” which topped the Official German Album Charts and dominated playlists worldwide, Billie wanted to return to the place that holds such significance for her fans.
BILLIE’S SPOT AND BERLIN VISIT
Just before 10 a.m. on Friday, Billie Eilish returned to “her” Berlin spot, where another giant poster of her new album “HIT ME HARD AND SOFT” is now on display in XXL size. Amazon Music hung it up in honor of Billie, creating the perfect 2024 remake of the original photo moment from 2019!
Besides, a plaque with a love message to Berlin reads:
BERLIN, YOU’VE STOLEN MY HEART. I LOVE YOU ENDLESSLY. BILLIE EILISH
personally signed by the music and style icon. However, if you want to recreate Billie’s new version of the photo yourself, you’ll need to hurry, as the album banner will only be there until June 17. The next few days, “Billie’s Spot” will surely attract many fans! Her morning visit was just one of
many highlights of her Berlin trip. Billie also took the opportunity to visit her Berlin Universal Music family office. It was an emotional reunion for the whole team, especially because Billie Eilish has embraced the city of Berlin and her German fans so deeply, as she emphasized in her conversation with UMG Europe chief Frank Briegmann:
Thank you for everything you’re doing and have done for me in the last years. You are amazing and I love you!”
Later, an intimate fan experience event took place at the “Prince Charles” club. Billie celebrated there with fans, media partners, and guests. The club is the very place where her breakthrough in Germany began on July 3, 2017.
At “Prince Charles,” she performed some songs for the first time on a German stage at just 15 years old, alongside her brother FINNEAS during a label night hosted by Universal Music/Interscope. Nearly seven years later, Billie Eilish returned, speaking with moderator Salwa Houmsi, answering many fan questions about her current album HIT ME HARD AND SOFT, and casually sharing her journey as an artist so far, her love for Berlin, and much more.
BILLIE’S TOUR 2025
Next year, Billie Eilish will embark on a tour and will present “HIT ME HARD AND SOFT” live. Perhaps “her” spot will also be on the tour schedule.
Not only her fans would be thrilled. Through her personality and music, Billie Eilish has changed the world and is therefore always welcome, not just at Billie’s Spot, but throughout Berlin.
